A Step Above the Others
Eyelash extensions can improve the strength, curliness, fullness, and thickness of your eyelashes. If you’re tired of applying mascara or flimsy false eyelashes every day, then eyelash extensions can give you the head-turning lashes you desire without any of the effort.
For a full set of extensions, your aesthetician will add an extension to each one of your natural lashes. This process takes about two hours. A partial set of lashes involves bonding extensions to only some of your natural eyelashes, for instance on the outer edges of your eye for a polished cat-eye effect. Partial sets of extensions usually take an hour to apply.
When you come to an eyelash extension appointment at Celebrity Skin in Wilmette, one of our friendly aestheticians will meet with you and discuss what look you desire for your lashes. We can make your lashes luscious and dramatic or opt for a subtler effect to highlight your natural beauty.
Once you’ve chosen what kind of look you want, you will then lie down on one of our comfortable spa beds. Your aesthetician will start by cleaning and separating your lashes before covering them with medical tape in order to prevent them from sticking to your upper lashes. Your lash artist will also tape your upper eyelid in order to hold it in place. Don’t worry — this doesn’t hurt!
Depending on the amount of eyelash extensions you are receiving, appointments typically last between one and two hours. This will go by quickly. In fact, many clients find the process so relaxing that they fall asleep!
Next, you will begin receiving your extensions. Using specialized tweezers, your lash artist will separate one of your eyelashes from the other. They will then apply adhesive to the extension and bond it in the correct position to your natural lash, repeating this process for your entire eye. In order to receive an even appearance, you will receive the same number of lashes on each eye.
Eyelash extensions typically last anywhere from four to eight weeks.
Over time, your eyelash extensions will grow or fall out with your natural eyelashes. During a lash fill appointment, your aesthetician will remove any grown-out extensions and replace them with new ones.
Depending on your hair’s growth cycle, you’ll want a lash fill every couple of weeks. The amount of time your lashes last depends on how well you care for them. Skincare and makeup products can potentially make your lashes fall off quicker. Check out our lash aftercare page for more tips on maintaining your extensions.
Eyelash tinting is essentially a semi-permanent dye job for your lashes. Lash tinting darkens and intensifies the color of your lashes, essentially creating the illusion of mascara without you having to apply any. Individuals with light-colored lashes will notice the effects of lash tinting more than those with darker lashes, but anyone can benefit from the effect. Lash tints typically last between four to six weeks.
A lash touch-up allows you to freshen your extensions before a special event or in-between fills. At a lash touch-up appointment, your lash artist will brush out your extensions to eliminate gaps that might give you a ragged look. At Celebrity Skin in Wilmette, we only offer lash touch-up appointments within seven days of your last fill. A lash touch-up appointment lasts thirty minutes.
